Optical fiber jumper (also known as optical fiber connector) refers to the cable is installed on both ends of the connector plug, used to achieve the optical path active connection, in addition to the mentioned pigtail is only one end of the connector plug of the optical fiber. In the security monitoring project, we will often use fiber jumper, such as connecting the fiber terminal box and the fiber transceiver or connecting the optical module, optical equipment and optical equipment couplet, fiber transmission line jumper. In security engineering, there are basically four kinds of optical fiber jumpers that we commonly use: FC, ST, SC and LC. In actual work, the fiber jumper has single mode, multi-mode (50/125\62.5/125), OM3, OM4, OM5, MPO, leather fiber jumper, etc., plus the fiber jumper length is 1 meter, 2 meters, 3 meters, 5 meters, 10 meters, 20 meters, 50 meters and other arbitrary length can be customized. Single-mode Fiber: The general fiber jumper is shown in yellow, and the connector and protective sleeve are blue; The transmission distance is long. Multi-mode Fiber: The general fiber jumper is expressed in orange, and some are expressed in gray, and the connector and protective cover are beige or black; The transmission distance is shorter and the distance is shorter. OM3 is 850nm laser-optimized 50um core diameter multi-mode fiber, in the use of 850nm VCSEL 10Gb/s Ethernet, the fiber transmission distance can reach 300m; OM4 is an upgraded version of OM3 multi-mode fiber, and the fiber transmission distance can reach 550m. The OM5 fiber jumper was originally known as the wideband multimode fiber jumper, which is the new standard for fiber jumpers defined by TIA and IEC, with a fiber diameter of 50/125μm, and compared with OM3 and OM4 fiber jumpers, OM5 fiber jumpers can be used for higher bandwidth applications. In February 2017, TIA specified that the identification color of OM5 fiber jumper is aqua green.
